What do we mean – when we say God’s will?
His plan?
His desire?
His calling you to ministry?
1. God’s general will for all mankind?

2. God’s will for all Christians?

3. God’s pre-determined will for your individual life?

Often we encounter people that have through religious tradition been taught that God’s will is very mysterious and very individual. Neither of which is true. The result is, that when these people get really sick, and they begin praying for Healing – They want to be healed, but don’t know if it’s God’s will for them to be healed.

They don’t know WHAT God’s will is! Their pastor doesn't know what God’s will is! It seems that the only determination of what God’s will is -- is after-the-fact. If they received the manifestation of healing – then it WAS God’s will. If they did not – then it must not of been His will. What a bunch of BUNK!

The untold numbers of people that have suffered and died believing that it was God’s will for them to go through that! All in the name of religious tradition and teaching that God has a separate, individual will for each person that somehow supersedes His general will for us all.

The only places in the Bible that refers to ANY personal private individual will of God, speaks concerning a call of an individual for ministry, and the distribution of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

The following scriptures will walk you through this subject.

Rom 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will.

So it says here that one can test and approve what God’s will is!

Acts 20:24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me -- the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.

(Now here he, Paul, is testifying – saying something!)

Acts 20:25 "Now I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will ever see me again.

(Now here he is preaching – saying something!)

Acts 20:26 Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of all men.

(Now here he is declaring – saying something!)

Acts 20:27 For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God.

Now here he is proclaiming – saying something – but WHAT? The whole will of God! But, what is it?

Paul wrote what he taught – nearly two-thirds of the New Testament! READ the Teachings of Paul, and you will be reading the will of God for you!

Col 4:12 E-paph-ras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.

Here it says that you can not only know and stand firm in the will of God, but be assured that it IS the will of God!

1 John 2:17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

Surely, God has made His will known to us somewhere if He requires us to do it to inherit eternal life!

Eph 1:8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

Eph 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

Here is says that He HAS made known His will for you!

Eph 1:11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity WITH the purpose of his will,

Notice here, that he does not say “I was chosen” or “You were chosen” but rather he says “We were chosen” indicating that this is referring to God’s general will for us all!

Eph 1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

But, you were included in that general will of God!

Now remember that we are pointing out that There is NO separate, individual will of God, for each person that we can’t know until it happens to us. There IS the general will of God for us all that we ALL can know – if we READ what that will IS – in the Bible!

Let’s continue …

Col 1:9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Here it says that we can KNOW God’s will through wisdom and understanding!

1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

1 John 5:14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

1 John 5:15 And if we know that he hears us -- whatever we ask -- we know that we have what we asked of him.

Now here is a passage that tells the whole story of how to know God’s will, and yet has been twisted by religious tradition to say the opposite!

He is saying here that:

1. We can know God’s will because it’s in the WRITTEN record – the Bible.

2. We can have CONFIDENCE that when we ask the Father ANYTHING that is covered by His written Word, that we will receive what His Word said!

The Bible IS the written will of God! It is full of promises and statements of fact – that you can absolutely count on! Especially the New Covenant if you are a born-again Christian! The New Testament is a covenant – a contract. God through the Holy Spirit wrote it – it’s God’s will! Wherein God promises to do certain things if we do certain things. You signed on the dotted line the first time you took the symbols of the broken body and blood of Jesus in communion! Isn’t it time you read the contract?

Let’s continue …

Heb 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Notice, after you KNOW God’s will, and DO God’s will – you receive the promises – of God’s will!

Heb 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Heb 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is the substance [The assurance, the confirmation, the substantiation] (by what God has promised) of (or about the) things (we) hoped for;

(And that substantiation is) the evidence [the certainty, the conviction of reality, the testimony, the proof] of (the) things (we have) not (yet) seen.

We can have faith in the promises of God – because God has substantiated them by His Word.

In other words, Faith – is believing what God has promised by His Word, so much that you are willing to act upon it!

And, James 2:17 says that faith without acting on it -- is a dead faith.

So we have seen that by reading what is written in the New Covenant, we can know God’s will. Now let’s see another way to know God’s will. By what Jesus said and did!

John 6:38 For I (Jesus) have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

Jesus said he didn’t come to do his own will – but ONLY did the will of the father!!! He said that he only spoke the Father’s words!! If you want to know the Will of God for you – hear what Jesus said, look at what Jesus did!

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Jesus didn’t do his will one minute and God’s will the next! He was, is and will ever be consistent! So let’s look at what he did!

Mat 15:30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and laid them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:

Mat 15:31 Insomuch that the multitude were amazed, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

Many believe that suffering through sickness – somehow glorifies God – NO! Healing Glorifies God!

Let’s see more

Mat 4:24 News about him (Jesus) spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he -- healed them.

Jesus healed them ALL – both the righteous and the sinner – it made no difference! Jesus did the will of God! It IS THE WILL OF GOD for ALL to be healed!

The prophet Isaiah in chapter 53, verses 4 and 5 says: Surely he (Jesus) hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he (Jesus) was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we ARE healed.

Now there are many of man’s traditional religious commentaries that will tell you that this passage means spiritual healing – but let’s just look at the Holy Spirit’s commentary!

Mat 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

Mat 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Now let’s see Peter looking back to Calvary – and quoting Isaiah in the past tense!

1 Pet 2:24 (Jesus) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose (Jesus’) stripes you WERE healed

Mat 9:35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing -- every disease and sickness.

Mat 12:15 … great multitudes followed him (Jesus), and he healed them all;

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil, because God was with him.

Luke 4:40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with diverse diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

Luke 6:19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him (Jesus), and healed them all.

How do you know God’s will for you?

For those of you that have read the testimony of my healing, you might say, "Sure God healed Tim! So that must have been God’s will!"
But, you ask, "Is it God’s will to heal me?"

ABSOLUTELY YES!

But, you might say -- my pastor said that God doesn't always heal – because He is sovereign.

Now, even though the word sovereign NEVER appears in the bible --
What he means by what he is saying is -- that GOD doesn't HAVE to do ANYTHING!
Even if he made a contract with you – promising to do something – he doesn't HAVE to do it!
Even if He SWEARS by Himself – He doesn't HAVE to fulfill his promise!
He might use some cute little phrases like, "We can’t put God in a box!" or  "We can’t hold God in a headlock!" or "God’s not a vending machine! -- because HE’S SOVEREIGN!"

HORSE FEATHERS!

Sure!  God is sovereign.  But He is MORE than sovereign!
God is a loving FATHER!
He is MY loving FATHER!
He is our Healer!
He is our Provider!
God – my God – is a RIGHTEOUS God!
A God of TRUTH and FAITHFULNESS to His WORD!
His WORD is TRUTH!

Now I’m not putting down your pastor.
I don’t even know your pastor.
Perhaps he just hasn’t fully thought through all that stuff that was poured into his head at that traditional religious seminary?
Or perhaps he got this stuff from one of those guys on the radio --
who thinks their calling in life is to straighten the rest of us out!?
Just a thought.

And, don't waste a lot of your time writing me ugly letters or messages.
I neither read them nor respond to them.
(Where was I? ...)

My God is a God of promises!

Rom 4:20 He (Abraham) staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
Rom 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Rom 4:22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Heb 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Heb 6:13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself,
Heb 6:14 Saying, Assuredly, blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
Heb 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Heb 6:17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:

Heb 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

Gal 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession (words) of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

2 Cor 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yes, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Here are just a few of the promises! Put YOURSELF into each scripture! Make it personal – between you and God!

Rom 10:8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:
Notice:
Rom 10:9 That IF you

1. confess [or say it] with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and

2. believe [it] in your heart that God raised him from the dead,

then -- you WILL be saved [Strong’s 4982. sozo; delivered or protected: -- healed, preserved, saved (self), to do well, and be made whole].

Why?

Rom 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and (with your heart that you) are justified [made righteousness], and it is with your mouth that you confess [say it] and are saved [Strong’s 4991. soteria; rescued, safe --delivered, healthy, saved].

Acts 16:30 He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
Acts 16:31 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved -- you and your household."

Luke 1:36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month.
Luke 1:37 -- For nothing is impossible with God."

Eph 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Eph 6:2 "Honor your father and mother" -- which is the first commandment with a promise--
Eph 6:3 "-- that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

Mat 6:14 For IF you forgive men when they sin against you, -- your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Mat 18:18 "I tell you the truth [it’s a promise], whatever you bind on earth WILL be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth WILL be loosed in heaven.
Mat 18:19 "Again, I tell you [it’s a promise], that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it WILL be done for you by my Father in heaven.
Mat 18:20 For where two or three come together in my name, -- there am I with them."

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: -- I (says Jesus) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

1 Pet 2:24 (Speaking of Jesus) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that -- we might die to sins and (so that we might) live for righteousness; --by his [stripes] you have been healed.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Mat 9:35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing -- every disease and sickness.

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
James 5:15 And the prayer of faith WILL save the sick

2 Cor 1:20 says that all the promises of God, are yes, and Amen.

Isn’t God good? He provides for our every need! It IS His will!

Please --
Don’t continue wandering blind in the darkness of this world concerning the will of God!
Read the Bible – the Word of God!
It IS the will of God in written form!

All you have to do is to find a promise or statement of fact that covers your situation, take it to God in prayer – and ask Him for what He, by His own will, said He would do! Faith is believing what God has said! Have faith and then step out on it!

But the Bible says that people DIE because they lack knowledge! Knowledge of what God has said! When disaster strikes BE PREPARED! Know what the Bible has to say about your situation and apply it!

After thirty years of being a Christian, I nearly died because I didn’t know what I am telling you here!
I’m not interested in your theology!
I just want to see you saved, healed, delivered and whole in every way!
Because by doing so – it destroys the works of the Devil!

The Devil tried to kill me, but God healed me through the stripes of Jesus, and anointed me to teach, preach and heal – to destroy the works of the Devil and to bruise his ugly head!
