WINDOWS ON THE WORD
Diminishing The Darkness By Lifting up The Marvelous Light Of Jesus Christ

September 2010

From The Editor . . . by Marcia Greenwood

Let's say that you just received a letter from a sweepstakes company informing you that you just won $10,000 and they were confirming your address and the check would be mailed to you the next day - all you had to do was call the number to claim your prize.

Well, I'm sure you would go wild - especially after you hung up the phone. Your family would come running from all parts of the house to see "what's up."

Now I did not say that you had the check in hand or even took it to the bank to make sure it was "good." But you are already dreaming and planning how to spend the cash once it arrives.

So, my question to you is - Why aren't more Christians celebrating their victory before it manifests? Too many of us have forgotten to praise and thank God for the good things He has promised us. (Psalm 103:1-5, our benefits.)

If you were watching a sporting event - I dare say that once your team scores that your neighbours would hear you down the street. No intimidation here!

How much more should we be honouring our God, our Creator, who loves us unconditionally and has made us so many good faith promises in the Bible?

Mark 11:24 tells us to "believe we HAVE RECEIVED WHEN we ask for it in prayer."

This is something to shout about, to praise and worship God for. His Word IS truth!

Of the 10 lepers who Jesus healed, only one came back to worship and thank Him, and for that he was made whole (Luke 17:12-19).

We must learn to raise our Shield of Faith high and praise and thank God for His goodness all the time. We should not be timid to do this among others.

King David was not ashamed to sing, praise and dance before the Lord and worship Him. He set an example before all the people.

In a healing line, when someone lays hands on you for your healing shout out praises to God and thank Him for your healing. The world, outside of the church doors needs to come running to see what is happening.

God inhabits our praises! PRAISE HIM! TGM

Window On The Word

Prosperity In
Times of Trouble

By Francis Gituru and Marcia Greenwood

As major economic problems mount in the world, many are losing faith in politicians and economists. With their ever shifting goals and priorities, the politicians have their eyes set on the next election cycle while the economists are hopelessly split along ideological lines of thought. In the meantime millions around the globe have been anxiously waiting for the promised economic turnaround. But so far, it is hard lack all around – with the governments having little to show in terms of progress.

Is your God any different from the politicians and all the others? He sure better be! He has given His word that He is. "God is not a man, so He does not lie. He is not human, so He does not change His mind. Has He ever spoken and failed to act? Has He ever promised anything and not carried it through?" (Num. 23:19 NLT). If we are to believe the Bible it says that God keeps every promise He makes.

"Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus. In him, this is what we preach and pray, the great Amen, God's Yes and our Yes together, gloriously evident" (2 Cor. 1:20 MSG).

Do you have to convince Jesus to stamp your issues as priority and hopefully fast tracked? Thankfully you do not need to do such a thing because God has promised to take care of you and He has put it down in writing too! The Bible has promises of God that you can start meditating on, beginning now, like this one:

"That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life-whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. So, don't worry about these things, saying, 'What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?' These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. "So, don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries..." (Mat. 6:25-34 NLT). Here are some great action plans:

• Keep your mind on the Kingdom of God and righteousness rather than being preoccupied with survival. The truth is, we have worried this thing over and over for months and what have we got? Nothing. Therefore, we can confidently cast our cares upon Jesus and trust him to deal with it "Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you." (1Pet. 5:7 NLT). He can handle it, He is God!

• Get busy, reach out to others and share the good news, pray and meditate on the Word of God and His promises over your life, obey Jesus - He said not to worry, so do not worry. If you are idle, you will get worried. Every morning and every night, as you wake up and as you go to bed, choose not to worry. Commit to God, believe Him for directions and peace, thank Him for providing for your needs - "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Phil. 4:19 KJV)

• Put your faith in what God says over and above what people say. News channels can easily depress you! Spending much time on the things of God, self improvement and other positive activities rather than on politicians and world news reports is of great benefit. "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." (Phil. 4:8 NLT)

Does God want you to prosper in every area of your life? The answer is, Yes. He gave you Jesus and therefore He can give you all things. He wishes you to prosper. "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul (mind, will and emotions) prospers." (3 John 1:2 KJV)

So, put your thoughts on what God has promised, Kingdom of God living, and do what the Word says to do concerning sowing and reaping and then you will surely experience prosperity in your life, for you to richly enjoy!

Never stop saying what God has said through the Bible. Study and say what it says day and night, making sure you fulfill your part of everything written in it. Then you'll get where you're going; then you'll succeed. (Jos.1:8 TGV)

Governments of this world can offer little hope. But God's Word, if you implement it and daily live it, can, and will, turn any situation around. TGM
