The
church is not a museum to display perfect people.
The church is a hospital for hurting humanity.
The church is a classroom to overcome the lack of knowledge.
God doesn't want to leave us where He found us.
He said in Ephesians 2:4, Sure, you were dead in trespasses and in sins
and you walked according to the course of this world, but then the next
verse says, But God. But God, who is rich in mercy…
Oh, He knows how to release that eagle.
Oh, He knows how to release that son or daughter of God.
And when He's done, He sees someone liberated and set free.
The church is filled with people who were that way and now they are
saved and delivered by the power of God.
Could I have an Amen? (Amen)
Oh, Thank God He didn't leave us there like he found us.
Verse 4 says, "But God who is rich in mercy for His great love
wherewith He loved us even when we were dead in sins hath made us alive
together with Christ."
Sometimes people get stuck in life, pigeon-holed, categorized and
paralysed because of bad things happening to them, bad decisions and
bad situations.
Well I'm here to tell you that there is hope for you yet! You
think
you've been through some bad stuff? You want to compare scars?
My parents divorced when I was still a baby so I never really remember
seeing them together.
As a child and young man, the devil repeatedly tried to kill me. I was
hit by a car, I was impaled on a picket fence, I was swarmed by dozens
of wasps, I was mauled by a dog, I nearly drowned in a lake, I nearly
drowned in the ocean, I was sexually abused and I attempted suicide.
I ran the streets of San Antonio with a bunch of hoodlums and had a
really bad reputation.
I recently got a message from a classmate from high school that had
visited our web site. He referred to me as "the kind of person
that
people like him went out of their way to avoid."
I flipped a neighbour's car end-over-end 2 ½ times and was driving
another car as it was run-over by an overweight truck carrying ingots
of lead.
I experienced two successive heart attacks. The last of which,
the
doctors told me I would die without a heart transplant, which I
refused. And then the devil pulled me into the vortex of fear,
discouragement and depression as far down as anyone can go and survive.
I couldn't walk more than twenty feet. I was ready to give up. I
didn't care anymore. For all practical purposes, I was a dead man.
All I could do was to sit there like a cold, rock-hard block of ice.
But Jesus looked at me, and He didn't see a block of ice.
He didn't just see an eagle in that block of ice ...
What He saw was the minister and the teacher that He called me to be.
And He saved me, healed me and He called me once more - and I said YES
Lord!
You know, when we look at people, we should look at them like God sees
them.
When the world looked at Peter, Matthew, James, John, all those guys -
The world saw ice cold tax collectors.
The world saw hard fishermen with lots of rough edges.
And later, in Peter's case, they just saw a frozen failure.
But Jesus looked beyond that cold hard surface and saw mighty men of
God.
And He sees YOU - just as you are. But He doesn't want to leave you as
you are. He sees that eagle in there, and wants to set YOU free. TGM
