Today,
many Christians are aware that much of the world tries to limit or even
do away with using the name of Jesus. But this is actually
nothing new.
Why is this? And who is behind it? The devil of
course! He knows that the name of Jesus is powerful. No
other name has the power behind it. So if using the name of Jesus can
be banned, then the devil doesn’t care what name to whom people pray.
Acts 2:21 says that – Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Let’s read an example from the past of how people tried to ban using the name of Jesus.
In Acts, chapter 4, the Sadducees came to Peter and John and were grieved that the apostles were teaching in the name of Jesus.
Verse 16: What can we do to stop people from learning of this miracle (of healing)?
What do we do with those speaking in the name of Jesus, the priests and
Sadducees said? We must warn them to no longer speak in his name.
Verse 19: Peter and John told them to judge for yourself whether we
should obey God or you in this matter. So upon their release Peter and
John went and reported all they knew. Now the apostle’s
prayed – “Lord consider their threats and enable your servants to speak
your word with great boldness. Stretch out you hand to heal and
perform miracles and wonders in the mighty name of Jesus.”
And yes, today rulings are going out: “no school prayer, no saying in
God we trust, no praying in the name of Jesus.” Now of course,
cursing the name of God and cursing with Jesus’ name is permitted.
Teaching, preaching and talking in the name of Jesus is our
choice. Now is the time to make sure your foundation is built
upon Jesus.
Now is the time to be filled with the Holy Spirit and listen to His guidance daily.
Now is the time to take your position – knowing in Whom you will obey
and whose Name you will use when speaking to others and in your prayers.
Jesus is the ONLY Name that will save, heal, redeem and restore.
Jesus is the ONLY Name that one day all people will bow their
knees. TGM

In the Name
of Jesus
by Marcia Greenwood
Jesus
gave us the authority to use His name. That authority is
delegated power. When using this power, we can face the enemy
without any fear and put him under our feet. The exceeding
greatness of God’s power comes to us who believe. Jesus is seated
far above all principalities and powers and we are seated with
Him. Our power and authority comes from above, not from this
earth.
1 Corinthians 1:5 - In everything we are enriched by Him (Jesus), in
all utterance and in all knowledge. We have been made blameless.
Vs. 9 – God is faithful, by whom we were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Our faith is in God and the favor connected with the power of God, not
in someone else or something else. We must grow in intimacy with
God; we must fellowship with Him and NOT become satisfied with just
hearing about Him. We must hunger to fellowship on a deeper level with
Him and learn to move as He moves, talk as talks and live as He lives.
So often, when reading stories in the Bible of people being healed by
Jesus, He gave them a directive: “Go and wash,” “Go and show yourself
unto the priests,” “Pick up your mat and walk.” There is some
action required before you receive. This is called acting
in faith.
There is power in the words of God: “Light Be,” “I have set the waters in their boundaries,” “the universe is set in place.”
John 16:23-24 - Jesus told the disciples: “Ask anything of the Father in My name and He will give it to you.”
Jesus – the Name above all names. But when we use the name of
Jesus, we must understand the power in the name and believe in the name.
Mark 1:27-28 - Jesus cast out demons with a WORD. We have the
Name, the source of the power within us – the same power that raised
Jesus from the dead.
John 14:12 – He that believes on Me shall do the works! The word
“shall do” means to band together, perform, continue in, have your
faith entrusted in, and be committed.
As we see the world getting darker and darker, we the church, the body
of Christ, must shine the light of Jesus throughout the world.
The apostles Peter and John, understood the power in the name of Jesus,
only after Jesus died. The lame man at the gate was begging for
some money as was his usual custom. When Peter and John
walked by he held out his hand and asked for help. Peter told
him, I don’t have any money on me now, but what I do have, I give to
you. “Rise up and walk in the name of Jesus.”
Some may say: “But yes, the apostles were SPECIAL because they were
around Jesus and His ministry. They had a close friendship with
Him.” But we do too. Or at least we can if we
desire it!
The Bible says that the Kingdom of God is advancing and the violent
take it by force. Violent means: forcer; to crowd oneself into
and this is our means of livelihood. We live in this world, but are not
part of it. We have the rules and laws of the Kingdom of God to
operate and live within!
Mark 16:17 says that any believer can lay hands on the sick and they
will recover, and they shall cast out demons IN THE NAME OF JESUS.
The word BELIEVE is an ACTION word, not just some MENTAL exercise.
A sad fact: The world is hurting, dying and going to hell. We
need to be ready and available at all times to be a light and an
administrator of the power of God – to change all things through the
name of Jesus.
The Bible says that the same power (of the Holy Spirit) is in us that
raised Jesus from the dead. This is not the time to wimp
out, be afraid to be different, or be ashamed of the gospel. Who
do you want to emulate? The world or God? This choice is
yours! This is the time to rise up in the mighty power and authority
that we have been given through God Himself, through the name of
Jesus.
John 20:21 – Jesus tells the disciples - As My Father hast has sent me
into the world, I also sent you. Calling on the name of Jesus to
save us is only the beginning, we can now follow in Jesus’ footsteps
and have an exciting life and ministry in Him.
John 14:23 – “If a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father
will love him, and we will come unto him and make our abode with
him.”
Jesus is living in us – doing the work of the Father, and the power of
the Holy Spirit is working through us. We are fully equipped to
continue this work, in the Name of Jesus! TGM
